People see high stakes cash games – most notably High Stakes Poker on GSN – in which aggressive players like Tom Dwan (a.k.a. “durrrr”) bet three streets heads up with air, and make his opponent fold. To a non-competent viewer, it just seems incredibly easy to win big money by playing poker. All durrr did was bet-bet-bet, and he won a 6 digit pot. Most people are lazy, and want to get rich the easy way. People believe in miracles. And exploiting this attitude is all we are about.

Just shoving chips in with hands like A-6 or K-7 because you are short-stacked is not a good strategy. If the blinds are still relatively low, there is not need to get into a hurry. In fact, poker online becomes really simple when you are short stacked. You simply wait for a good hand that you can double up with. If you have $500 chips and the blinds are $25-$50, yes you are in trouble, but you don’t have to throw it all in right away. Wait a few rotations of the table to see if you can pick up a decent hand and then push all in with it.

I am a firm believer of patience. If you aren’t getting hands, fold. Don’t try to get impatient and play garbage hands because you are bored or feel pressured that you need to make a move because other players have more chips than you. The blinds are so low, you have so much time to catch up to the other players and take down first.
